SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER . . .

Wow - I guess Summer flies by when you work just about the entire time of it when you are used to having the days off until school starts again.  I filled in for a gal that had a baby and even though I was glad to help out and got paid for it, I still missed my lazy summer days.
We did get to Florida for a trip to see Katie down in Pensacola in June.  2400 miles - what a lot of driving that was.  It was great to see her.  We also got to see my husbands sister and my cousins in Atlanta.  I am so glad we went.  Then we came home - got a new bed - finally waking up with no more sore backs and I started the 6 weeks of work.  It wasn't too bad, it was basically answer the phone to schedule restortation jobs and some computer work.  A week off and I head back to school on the 18th.  The kiddos start on the 25th.
So today, my husband helped me with the Grace frame I bought about 2 years ago.  I tend to procrastinate. I needed help with the carriage part where the sewing machine goes.  Turns out, the gal I bought it from could not have used it because they had it put together all wrong.  So, that is all corrected now and the next 2 steps are to see if my machine will work on it and then get a quilt loaded on it.  Tomorrow I will try step 1. If my machine does not work, I will need to save a little faster for a new one.  I am looking in to the Block-RockIt.  I am saving all my one dollar bills and am quite a ways off from the asking price.
Anyways - a summer is not complete unless I spend a few days with my bestest.  We had a great time together the past few days.  We even got some sewing in.  I am currently working on one of those quick jelly roll quilts where you just sew the strips together.  It does take more than an hour - don't let them fool ya!

I did get an I Spy Quilt finished for my newest cousin and a large snap bag for his older sister.  They need to get in the mail tomorrow.  Now, how the heck did the photo get up there?  It was supposed to be down below this.  Aw well, at least it's there!

Here is Erica's baby quilt.  She is the little one who belongs to the mommy I filled in for this summer.

The mom doesn't like pink but does like blues, yellows, and greens.  I found this panel in my stash.  I think she will really like it.  Now I just have to wrap it and get it over to her.  

I also worked on what I thought was going to be one quilt for our bed - well, after determining that I didn't sew some of the seams correctly and I had to take out something crazy like 60 seams, I ended up turning that idea into 5 projects.  2 casserole carriers, a small fabric box, a small topper for a wall hanging, and a super long wall hanging which is the 10 minute blocks that look like cathedral windows.

I suppose that's it for tonight.  I'll try to not make it so long before I write the next time.
