The humid days seems to have begun. I work outside for a few hours and I start to droop from the humidity. Only 3 more days of school left and I can begin my 'summer schedule'. I actually make up a calendar that sits on my computer desk that lists which days chores get done and which days I get to quilt. I try to add more quilting days than 'work' days. :)
I finished my Fun Flower Dresdens wall hanging and it's up on the wall. It is so bright and cherry. I must get some photos in here, I have so many. Beginning the week of June 4th, that's the 1st project I will attend to so - look for it! Keep me motivated!
For now though I must get a'crackin on the chores I must finish before I head off to Dad's today. The Memorial Day picnic is HERE tomorrow and there is still tons to do. Would be nice if Michael were around to help but he is tearing off a roof today. That's another story. I just wish he wouldn't have agreed to do it THIS weekend when there is tons to do here which I thought was OUR weekend to work on together. Seems that some people have power over others and he just doesn't know how to say no. So, what gets done, gets done. There is too much joy in life to let the little things bother me.
So, off I go with a smile and a chuckle knowing that God gave me all my limbs and my senses to do what I can do. It is a happy day!

TREE OF LIFE BIBLICAL QUILT DONE
Finally, after 15 years, the BEAST if finished. There are 540 tyes in the quilt - 1st one I think I have tyed that I have made myself. But, at this point, I just wanted it finished so I can throw it on the bed. It is not the best quilt I have ever made, but 2 years went into the making of the central top, added 2 very wide borders and a very large bottom. Pulled the binding over from the back and machine sewed it down. I believe it is king size. Not the best, but done. I've warned those in this household that it is to never leave our bedroom unless it gets washed and dried. Someone told me to put someone's name that I don't like on the label so no one knows I've made it. I'd get a photo, but still, DH can't get them to download. I need to work on him about that. He can usually figure out any computer problem we are having. Hmmm, maybe tomorrow.
Enjoying having my Marine son home for 2 weeks. One week left. I get a hug everytime he wants my car. I just hide the keys until I get a hug, and voila! the car is his for the day and I get my fix.
The next quilty project will be the braid quilt using a honeybun. I love the smaller size of the strips and have had this project in mind for awhile. Don't know how large it will get, maybe just a small wall hanging but am looking forward to making it.

Enjoying having my Marine son home for 2 weeks. One week left. I get a hug everytime he wants my car. I just hide the keys until I get a hug, and voila! the car is his for the day and I get my fix.
The next quilty project will be the braid quilt using a honeybun. I love the smaller size of the strips and have had this project in mind for awhile. Don't know how large it will get, maybe just a small wall hanging but am looking forward to making it.

A NEW SCHEDULE
Time to write my Summer schedule. 19 days until 'vacation'. Meals, household chores, and outings - like food store runs and the like- need to be planned ahead of time. Of course, the 1st thing to be planned is my quilting time and then everything else will get planned around that. After all, for 9 months of the year I am not home from 8 AM until 3:30 PM, so why spend most of my time off in the summer doing crazy household things when I can be sewing instead. Hope that the others that live in this house are up early in the mornings this summer or else they might find the humming of a sewing machine waking them up.
Last year, I was very quiet in the mornings. Sometimes I wouldn't make any noise until around noon. Wow! What a waste of my time! If I have to, I can go downstairs and sew in the basement. Or, I can take it outside and sew in the Spring House while hearing the birds sing and watch the bees play doting from one flower to the next. Or, I could just sew at the table and get them all moving for the day.
My list on the sidebar over there to your right should be motivation enough to prod me along. I would really like to see some of those projects finished. I think I'll challenge myself to see what I finish by the end of summer.
In the meantime, I am still working on the Tree of Life. There are 540 tyes in that quilt. A monster for sure. Just need to finish the binding. Tomorrow is another day.
OK - off for my beauty sleep. The cats are sleeping, the dog is dreaming away, DH snoozing, and 4 kids tucked in. I like having all my kiddos home for the night. Now, I can rest.
