A NEW MARINE!

We are so proud!  Our 2nd son, Andrew who we call Odie just this morning earned his Eagle, Globe, and Anchor and became a Marine after 13 grueling weeks of training.  Next week a few of us drive to South Carolina to pick him up after graduation!  We even get to keep him for Christmas as he will fly out to North Carolina for more training. 

Quilting - busy as a bee!

I machine quilted a baby quilt for my Bestest girlfriend.  I argued with the sewing machine for almost 2 months before it decided to cooperate. 

I put together a quilt top for a friend who is sick.  I hope to machine quilt that this weekend.  It is to help keep him warm during his illness. 

And, I have two quilts to make for Christmas.  What quilter out there doesn't have gifts to make at such a late date?  They may not be full quilts, but I will get there. 

Thanksgiving is tomorrow.  I am thankful for all the blessings God has given us over the years.  I am also thankful that I can stay home tomorrow where it is warm while it is icing up outside.

THE LAZY DAYS OF SUMMER

Hot and Humid are the feelings for the past few weeks.  August's temperatures have hit in the month of July and continuing. 
Since I get the summer off from my job, I try to create most of the summer.  So far, with 1 1/2 weeks to go before the kiddos get back to learning, I have finished a wall hanging, 2 quilts, hope to finish 2 more this week, and a sewing machine cover.  Had more dreams to finish more, but that keeps me going.  I am happy with what I have accomplished.

Hope to get some photos up next time - had a big problem with the computer and LOST everything I had saved.  So, it may not be until September that I get some new folders open to do photo sharing. 

Winding down the days before Odie (son #2) leaves for the Marines.  19 days to go - the 30th won't be a happy day for me. 

Hope anyone out there reading this has a super day!  Reach for the STARS and you will surely grab one!

QUILT DREAMING

A great title I'm thinking since most of the time I am trying to talk myself out of procrastinating and get to quilting!  Maybe if I make myself answer to the world I would get more done, so, therefore, I decided to start a blog. 
Hopefully, you'll find articles interestingly enough here to come back and visit with me.  I am not very computer knowledgeable so I'll be learning as I go.
I am also not that super of a quilter, but hopefully I am improving as the years tick by.  I do like to come up with my own designs - though not very lavish or intricate, do love turning items found at garage sales and places like Goodwill and Salvation Army into quilty items, and sure love to dream up projects I'd like to work on.  A great procrastinator too as I have been known to have quilty Christmas items gifted a few months past the Holiday!  I try and isn't that what it's all about?  The love is there, I just have to work on actually getting to it!
